Hydronic Balancing

„Cocon Q “ Pressure independent dynamic control valve

Hydronic Balancing „Cocon Q“ Valve for hydronic balancing and regulation of heating and cooling systems Main features: 1.Combination of automatic regulator and regulating valve 2.Constant, high valve authority 3.Adjustment / Control of the presetting with mounted actuator possible 4.Direct reading of presetting in l/h or m³/h 5.Good optical display of the presetting 6.Presetting is lead lockable 7.Pump setting optimization 8.Small dimensions, especially “Cocon QTZ” 9.Complete flow and size range 10.Multiple control options 11.For chilled ceiling, fan coil unit, air handling unit, convector, one-pipe-system, surface heating and cooling etc.

Hydronic Balancing Combination of automatic regulator and regulating valve Legend 1. Diaphragm unit 2. Control valve 3. Balancing valve 4. Handwheel 5. Diaphragm 6. Sleeve “p1” is the inlet and “p3” the outlet pressure of the valve. “p2” is the pressure actuating the diaphragm unit and maintaining the differential pressure “p2” – “p3” at a constant level.

Hydronic Balancing Combination of automatic regulator and regulating valve Differential pressure [bar] Flow rate [0 – 100%] 1. Limit the flow rate with the handwheel 2. Control the flow rate with the actuator 2-point control 3-point control Proportional control (0-10V) Flow rate [0-100%] Valve stroke [%] Linear valve characteristic when used with proportional actuators

Hydronic Balancing Valve Authority Valve Authority, a = P1 P1 + P2 Ideal is a valve authority of a = 1

Hydronic Balancing Constant and high valve authority “Cocon Q” „p2 – p3“ is kept constant, even where high differential pressure variations („p1“ – „p3“) occur during part load conditions Therefore, the valve authority of the regulating valve „Cocon Q“ amount to 100% (a = 1)

Hydronic Balancing Adjustment / Control of the presetting with mounted actuator possible

Hydronic Balancing Direct reading of presetting in l/h or m³/h „Cocon QTZ“ „Cocon QTR“ and „Cocon „QFC“

Hydronic Balancing Good optical display of the presetting of the “Cocon QTZ” in different installation positions

Hydronic Balancing Presetting is lead lockable

Hydronic Balancing 1.Check the min. differential pressure in the manual, depending on the presetting Pump setting optimization e.g. for the Cocon QTZ 2.Check the differential pressure of the “Cocon Q” with the “OV-DMC2” 3.Adjust the pump setting. Thus the last “Cocon QTZ” has a bit more (e.g. 5%) than the min. differential pressure. Save Energy due to optimum setting!

Hydronic Balancing Small dimensions, especially “Cocon QTZ” Less space required to install the „Cocon QTZ“ with actuator
