How we can emotionally connect with Guru Granth Sahib Jee

First Lets break up the word to see what each part mean What does KIRTAN mean? Kirtan Do you Remember Tan, Man, Dhan?

Calm Silence of mind Self control Stable Focused on yourself No thoughts Kir KIR-

-Tan Remember what Tan, Man, Dhan seva means? tan Physical body Man = Mind Dhan = Money donation Write down what kirtan means to you?

How is Shabad KIRTAN written ? Gurbani is written in colour which means the emotion in which guru jee is telling us the important message. At the start of the shabad, guru jee tells us the RAAG in which we must sing in the shabad “I’m going to take care of you” In a deep low voice ‘I’m going to take care of you’ in a soft loving voice How has the meaning of the same words changed? How Important is singing gurbani in the correct emotion? GOOD NEWS...Raag is musical and all musicians say singing and instruments are FUNNN! Spiritual

Why do we rarely hear raag today? -All Kirtan was previously done on string instruments. We now use the vaja as it is easier to learn but musical beauty is lost. -Most shabads we hear today are not in raag because: 1)It is hard to learn 2) We do not like to face our emotions 1)How do you feel about the classical music you have heard today? 2) How do you think we can bring back classical Gurbani kirtan as it was sang from Guru Nanak dev jee – Guru Gobind Singh Jee

Guess the emotion? 1)Put your head down, 2)closed your eyes 3)Focus on listening and see how you feeling listening to the raag? 4) Write down how you felt 1) Raag Asa 2) Malkauns Raag 3) Raag Kalyaan

Guess the emotion? 1) Raag Asa 2) Malkauns Raag 2) Raag Kalyaan The Tune of HOPE The Tune of BATTLE FIELD energy The Tune of ROMANTIC MISSING of vaheguru

The benefits of classical music to you? You feel more love You have a bigger brain to achieve more thing You feel in extreme bliss You have more compassion for family and friends Your more intelligent The best exercise for your brain You are less stressed More powerful brain Understand guru jee more Learn other things more fast

Guru jee says... kalajug mehi keerathan paradhaanaa | In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises are most sublime and exalted. guramukh japeeai laae dhiaanaa | Become Gurmukh, chant and focus your meditation. aap tharai sagalae kul thaarae har dharageh path sio jaaeidhaa |6| You shall save yourself, and save all your generations as we ll. You shall go to the Court of the Lord with honor. ||6||
