RMS Open Evening Welcome to Ridgeway Middle School. Mike Bennett – Head teacher Julie Grieve – Chair of Governors Linda Tait – Deputy Head teacher James Thompson & Tom Clarkson – Assistant Head teachers Members of staff around the school

1.safe 2.enjoy 3.learn At Ridgeway, we believe that each child should:

Pupils leave RMS with... Good SATs results Public Exams – significantly above other schools Experiences and skills that equip them for their next school Happy after enjoying their safe and fun learning environment

Great SATS results... (last years Yr6) Functional Skills (GSCE A*-G) Pupils in KS3 get the opportunity to sit Public Examinations Our previous results have been: Maths L2 (A*-C) 88% (49% nationally) English L2 (A*-C) 80% (60% nationally) ICT L2 (A*-C) 85% (68% nationally) RMS achieves... MathsEng(R)Eng(W)Combined L4+76%88%89%76% (2%+) L5+27%33%31%

Pupils in Yr5 can expect... When children come to Ridgeway Middle School in Yr5, they have their own part of the school, the Yr5 area. Most of their lessons are taught in the area with their class teacher (about 60%) Some of their other lessons are taught in other areas of the school. This allows the children in Year 5 a year to get to know and feel comfortable in what can seem like a big school.

Ridgeway is able to offer... Specialist classrooms – science lab, music block, D&T (cooking, art, design and technology etc...) Teachers with specialism's (science, music, PE, D&T) but we are small enough for all staff to know all of the children and all the children know all of the staff. This is incredibly important to make children feel safe, secure and comfortable with the task of learning.

Current Yr5 pupils say... What do the pupils say about RMS? A few Yr5 pupils are about to tell us of their most recent experiences at Ridgeway Middle School
