EFFORTS BY- SATVIK HARSHIT SHASHWAT SAKSHYM

Plastic is now a regular material that is being used on a daily basis. Plastic is everywhere either in the form of food containers, financial transactions (Debit/Credit cards, plastic money), storage, baggage, stationary items, electronic and electrical products and every foreseeable item that a human being can think of. Plastic as a product is now like a regular feature of manufacturing, consumption, and service activities.

Peanut's Story This is Peanut the turtle—Peanut the red-eared slider, to be exact. She was found in 1993 in Missouri and taken to a zoo in St. Louis where the six-pack ring was removed. Today she is in the care of the Missouri Department of Conservation, and is doing well. How did it happen? When she was a small turtle, she got the ring stuck on her shell and couldn't get it off. Over time, the rest of her shell grew but the area around the ring did not. The piece of litter had been around her shell for about four years when she was found. If this had happened to a fleshy animal like an otter, the animal probably would have died from an infection. Since Peanut's shell protected her body, she was able to live with it, though some of her organs don't function properly.

A material which gets decomposed through natural process, such as action of bacteria, is called biodegradable material.Parts of vegetables, fruits, left over food stuff, paper, cotton, wood etc. are the examples of biodegradable materials. Biodegradable means compostable. While biodegradable simply means to be consumed by microorganisms and getting converted into compost.compostable Materials that do not decompose through the natural processes and take a very long time to degrade are called non-biodegradable materials. Plastic bags, buckets, etc. are examples of non biodegradable materials.

1.Plastic carry bags and other articles clog the city drainage system, thereby, causing lot of inconvenience. 2.Stray cows and other animals, in the process of eating the food waste, swallow materials like polythen bags and wrappers. This chokes the digestive tract animals, thereby, causing death. 3. Plastics take several years to decompose,, and are not environment friendly and cause environmental pollution. 4.Plastics, if burnt, produce harmful gases which pollute air. Harshit kaushik

DO YOU KNOW When you eat or drink things stored in plastic, plastic is incorporated into you. S0 ?  It causes immune and enzyme disorders, hormonal disruption leading to endocrinal disorders and even infertility and is also considered as carcinogenic (cancer).  Not only human health, it dangerously effects other animal life and alters the environmental (air, water and soil)sustainability causing hazardous pollution.

1)DO NOT THROW PLASTIC WRAPPERS CARELESSLY ON ROAD. 2)BIODEGRADABLE AND NON BIODEGRADABLE SHOULD BE COLLECTED SEPARATELY. 3)MAKE USE OF BAGS MADE BY COTTON OR JUTE WHEN YOU GO OUT FOR SHOPPING. 4)REMEMBER THE FOUR R’S. 5)DEVELOP HABITS TO PRESERVE ENVIRONMENT.
