UPPER CLASS VOLUNTEER WORK Hospitality Ministry 1 Upper Room Hospitality Ministry

Our Mission The Upper Room Hospitality Ministry aims to provide the food requirements to the people of Prince Edward Island. 2 Upper Room Hospitality Ministry

Upper Room Soup Kitchen One part of the Ministry is the Upper Room Soup Kitchen. It first began serving meals in The Soup Kitchen deals directly with preparing and giving food to those in need. It is run by three government employees, and the rest of the work is done by volunteers. 3 Upper Room Hospitality Ministry

Why Volunteer? The majority of the work at the Soup Kitchen is done by volunteers. In the year, 29,000 meals were served to the less fortunate. There are many times available to volunteer. As such, it is easy to find a time compatible with any schedule.  Mondays – Fridays: Lunch is served 11:30 – 12:30.  Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: Supper is served 4:30 – 5:30.  Meals are also available most weekends. 4 Upper Room Hospitality Ministry

It is also easy to become a volunteer. One merely needs to phone the soup kitchen, and arrange a date, # Or make a personal trip to speak directly to an employee and see the work.  101 Richmond Street, Charlottetown, PEI 5 Upper Room Hospitality Ministry

Volunteering at the Soup Kitchen allows people to make a difference in the lives of the people of Charlottetown and develop relationships with those who frequent the establishment. Some may have doubts about having to prepare and serve food, or about having to deal so directly with the people receiving the food, however… 6 Upper Room Hospitality Ministry

Upper Room Food Bank Another option is the Upper Room Food Bank. The Food Bank deals with the collection, organization and distribution of foods. It first began operating in The Food Bank is run by a manager, and many volunteers. Not only do they deliver food to the Soup Kitchen, but they also send meals to individual families. It provides hampers containing at least a three-day supply of food for each family member once monthly. 7 Upper Room Hospitality Ministry
