What do they eat? Younger yellowtail snappers’ diet consist of plankton, staying around sea grasses until they grow larger Adult yellowtail snappers prey of worms, shrimps and crabs, they hunt at night.

What eats them? Predators of a yellowtail snapper are barracudas, sharks and other kinds of snapper fish. Small, young snappers are what most predators of the sea will prey on.

Where does it live? The yellowtail snapper lives as far south as the coast of Southeastern Brazil, and as north as Massachusetts, in the Atlantic ocean. They may also be found in the Gulf of Mexico and the Carribean sea, living close to reefs.

How does it reproduce? Yellowtail snappers lay eggs to reproduce. The eggs are released in open water, and they have an oil droplet so they have buoyancy, The eggs hatch in 24 hours. Do people eat Yellow Snapperfish? The snapper is a very popular fish to eat, it is caught for sport as well as comercially. However, there have been reports of poisoning due to the consumption of snapperfish.

What makes my fish special? Unlike most snapperfish, the yellowtail snapperfish has a yellow strip extending horizontally from its body.
