Throwing I can throw and follow through to a target. I can find my accuracy through division

Manipulate Manipulate means to control. Controlling objects through movements (throwing, catching, kicking) with body parts. Getting the desired result (getting what you want).

Types of throws Identify the 2 types of throws. Think mathematically ( angles) and spatially (levels and relationships)

Overhand The most commonly used throw (fast). – Side to target – Arm way back – Step with opposite foot – Twist your torso – Swing arm forward – Release – Follow Through

Underarm throw Underarm Throwing (soft slow) – facing target – Step with opposite foot – Pull/Push or Back/Forward (swing arm) – Release – Follow Through

under or over? Which type of throw would you recommend for accuracy? Compare the two throws to the target and see which has the greater accuracy. Follow through.

Task You are going to throw 4 times to the target using an overhand throw and 4 times to the target using underhand. You are going to evaluate (rate, assess, grade) yourself on accuracy (closest to target) as you compare underhand and overhand. How did you measure your accuracy? Which type of throw is most accurate?

Rubric The red is worth 1 point. The yellow is worth 2 points. Your total can be as high as points would be 100% accuracy 8 points would be 50% accuracy
