Graphics The very well known Google graphic changes during special occasions and main holidays The colorful picture in the center of the page, giving contrasting to the search bar A new picture is updated everyday to allow the viewers to choose an image from the past week according to mood- the icon for this is at the bottom right, pictured as an arrow Sticking to the theme “go fetch” dogpile uses a picture and scenery of a dog holding a ball symbolizing the fact that the search engine will bring you a “ball” of information.
Typography: The general character of printed material Google uses large, block lettering to make the reading very easy for the broad audience they are geared toward. Their logo has many color to attract the viewer. All the font is blue, making it easy to read with the white background. Bing uses white writing in a simple font. The white is easy to read because of the gray background or the background of the picture of the day. Light blue background which fades to white, provides a contrast making the text easy to read because it is white or gray depending on what is selected.
Headings Headings are located in a light gray box with blue writing. This makes it simple to see and is one of the first things to see when on Google. Use of headings directly above search bar is laid out in an efficient manner to provide easy access to everything the user needs.
Boxes & lines Has the main search box in the middle of the page with a light black boarder around the outside. Another box is located above the search bar at the very top of the page with the categories to choose from. Main box in center encompasses smaller boxes to draw attention of user to center of page.
Lists Main list lays horizontally across top of page. All words are in lighter blue writing. Smaller list under search box in a darker blue. Lists of favorite fetches and quick starts under search bar in white blue contrasting with white background.
Color & Shading On regular day Google’s logo is like the one to the left but on special occasions they use illustrations with a lot more coloring then the regular logo. Their main colors are white and blue aside from the logo. Background starts out in light blue fading to white meeting a green field, creating a calming and serene effect.

White Space For the picture page there is a very thin white space between each picture. The top of the page is mainly white space putting the emphasis of the page mainly on the pictures because there is more color, attracting the eye. A lot of white space throughout the page to bring more emphasis on individual pictures.
Graphics Many graphics on this page. Simple viewing eliminates the need for a new page to view each individual picture. The graphics with Google are all listed on one page making the process less time consuming. Less graphics can be viewed on one page at a time this draws attention to the individual pictures but more time consuming to view many pictures.
Typography The text on the page is blue and is there to help the user refine the search to their liking. Making the search more precise. On right hand side the website gives the user the option of similar searches they might want to look at. Under each picture they have the link for where the picture was found.
Headings The headings for the image page are still on the top of the page in blue writing and are a list of the different type of searches. Main headings shifted from the center to the top of the page but still are consistent to the original layout of the original headings.
Boxes & Lines All the pictures listed on this page are in boxes with white space as the boarder.
Lists There are lists on the side allowing the user to narrow their search down to size, color and type of picture. The top list allows the user to use the same search but change the type of media such as videos. There’s also a list horizontally at the top of the page listing related searches
Color & Shading There are many colors on the image page of Google. The option to narrow the color down to ones that the user is interested in seeing.
