American Revolution The acts against the colonists

How did the English Civil war influence the citizens living in the thirteen colonies? Democracy – the colonists experienced the English Civil War. They saw what an absolute monarchy was like, they want a democracy.

What was the Royal Proclamation of 1763? Made by British to limit the expansion of the colonies. Due to finances.

What was the Sugar Act? The British taxed the colonists on sugar and sugar products.

What was the Stamp Act? Must purchase a stamp to buy products that have to with paper.

What were the Townshend Acts? Tax on duties such as paper, paint, glass and tea. All goods that came from outside of the colony was going to be taxed.

What event happened in 1770? A group of british soldiers misunderstood orders and fired on the protestors and killed 5- 7 people. Boston Massacre.

What is propaganda? Propaganda is a form of communication aimed towards influencing the attitude of the community toward some cause or position.

Who are the Sons of Liberty and what did they do?

Describe the Boston Tea Party A group of rebels, named the sons of liberty boarded a ship full of tea, and threw it into the water. It was a lot of tea.

Describe the 4 intolerable acts. Boston Port Act – They closed the Boston port. Until the amount of tea was paid in full. Massachusetts Government Act – All of the colony’s government positions were now appointed by the British. Administration of Justice Act – If a British soldier committed a crime, he could be tried under British Law. Quartering Act – Billeting of soldiers.

Quebec Act An act where Quebec saw their border increased. This border increase was in conflict into where the colonists wanted to expand. The French Language and Catholicism was now recognized in Quebec The colonists did not like the un-democratic rules in Quebec.
