Is there a God?

There are some who claim that GOD does not exist … “We find insufficient evidence for belief in the existence of a supernatural; it is either meaningless or irrelevant to the question of survival and fulfillment of the human race. As nontheists, we begin with humans not God, nature not deity.” (Humanist Manifesto II)

The Bible says GOD exists.

ROMANS 1:20 … “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made ….” God Is! The Bible tells us that there are some things about God that should be plan to anyone who looks at the world around us.

ROMANS 1:19-20 … “Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them … even his eternal power and Godhead.” God has great power!

From just observation we can know the following: God is! God is powerful! The world around us proves there is a God!

Logic demands a God! Creation demands a creator. Law demands a law-giver. Life demands a life-giver. Design demands a designer.

CREATION DEMANDS A CREATOR. Man created this.

The universe must have one who made it!

LAW DEMANDS A LAWGIVER. Man made these laws.

Go to fast and leave the road. … This is……………… a natural……………………… law. Who made it?

Logically … LIFE DEMANDS A LIFE-GIVER GENESIS 1 “And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so” … (Verse 11). “And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.” … (Verse 24). Life comes only from life!

LOGICALLY … DESIGN DEMANDS A DESIGNER. We set our watches and clocks by the master clock, this universe. Who designed it?

Who revealed these things? The Bible also provides evidence there is a God. The writers state as fact: Things that were not known by the science of their time. Detailed prophecy of events to occur after their time. Who revealed these things? GOD DID!

1033-975 BC Solomon made a statement to show the earth is round. “When he .. set a compass (circle ASV) upon the face of the depth” … (Proverbs 8:27). 1500 AD About 2500 years later, men generally accept that the earth is round.

Hindu belief was that the earth was supported by an elephant. 2000 BC…… The Bible said, “He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing” … (Job 26:7). That the earth is hanging free in space was proven in 1697 by Isaac Newton.

1033-975 BC The Bible revealed the water/evaporation cycle. “All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again” … (Ecclesiastes 1:7). This cycle was scientifically proven in 1841.

All flesh is not the same. It wasn’t until 1930, and the advent of the electron microscope that science declared there was a difference in the cells of different species. Until that time, all cell structure was believed to be the same. 56 AD “All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds” … (I Corinthians 15:39).

All races of men are of the same blood. In 1900, Karl Landsteiner discovered that human blood in all races has the same base, plasma. 63 AD “ … he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth” … (Acts 17:25-26).

Life is sustained by blood. God said, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood …”, (Leviticus 17:11). It was not until the 1900’s, over 3000 years later, did science recognize that blood gives life to all parts of the body.

God spoke of springs of water in the oceans. 1450 BC - “… the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up” … (Genesis 7:11). 2000 BC - “Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? …”, (Job 38:16). Sources of fresh water welling up to the surface of the ocean were discovered in 1930.

The Bible contains PROPHECIES given long before the time of their fulfillment. These prophecies could have been made only by God.

Joshua prophesied Jericho would be rebuilt at the coast of the lives of two of the builders sons. 1400 BC - “And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it” … (Joshua 6:26). 870 BC - “In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun” … (I Kings 16:34).

The Jews would go into captivity in Babylon. 1400 BC…..… “The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone” … (Deuteronomy 28:36). 670 BC…… “And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his officers, and the mighty of the land, those carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon” … (II Kings 24:15). “… I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword” … (Jeremiah 20:4).

140 years before it happened, God said that a king named “Cyrus” would restore the Jews to Jerusalem. “That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid” … (Isaiah 44:28). “Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah” … (Ezra 1:2).

Before their exile, God told them how long their captivity in Babylon would last. 70 YEARS “For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place” … (Jeremiah 29:10). “… When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?” … (Zechariah 7:5).
