Introduction Live Train is a training programme created by SDP, a predominantly Dry-lining company, to upskill people entering the construction sector with the key skills they need to succeed Live Train delivers award winning training programmes that focus on getting people employment at the end of the programme In the 3 years it has been running over 40 people have been supported into employment in the construction sector 72% of learners on Live Train’s programme make successfully achieve employment

Key Dates Recruitment days – 23 rd, 24 th of February Taster Day – 27 th of February (Travis Perkins) Course start – 9 th of March 11 Week Programme

The Programme The Live Train programme runs from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday and is delivered in 3 stages – 1. Training – Travis Perkins Vauxhall/ Saint-Gobain Academy (5 weeks) 2. Site Placement – Lambeth, Lewisham Islington (5 weeks) 3. Employment – Employability workshops/Interviews (1 week)

Training (weeks 1-2) The first weeks on the programme take you through the Health and Safety training needed to work on a construction site and provide you with entry level qualifications for construction labourers – CITB Health and Safety PASMA tower training 1 st Aid Personal Protective Equipment Manual Handling CSCS Self-Employment (Unique Tax Numbers, Tax returns, HMRC Construction Industry Scheme - CIS)

Training ( weeks 3-4) You will spend 5 days at the British Gypsums Saint- Gobain training academy being taught - Day 1: Wall lining/ Dot and Dab/Gypliner Day 2 & 3: Partitions Day 4: MF Ceilings Day 5: Finishing Joints

Training ( week 5) You will be working at the Travis Perkins Training centre where we will continue to practice Dry-Lining and get introduced to General Maintenance skills – Day 1 Making Good Day 2 Painting and Decorating Day 3 Basic Joinery Day 4 Basic Block Work Day 5 Basic Pipe-fit

Site Placements (week 6-10) Having completed the training you will progress onto a placement on a live building site. You will work with experienced Dry Liners supporting them on a range of projects across London – Lambeth, Lewisham, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and Southwark Work will be recorded in your site diaries to capture your progress and retain the information you pick up from the site teams

Employment (week 11) The final week on the programme is dedicated to getting employment. This is where we pull together the learning and experiences and produce a Live Train portfolio of your achievement for each candidate. We complete updated CVs, practice interview techniques and put you in touch with our network of employers For all course completers, Live Train guarantees interviews with genuine employers looking to recruit skilled Dry Liners into their workforce!
