Animations By Georgia Waldram-Higham

CGI-(Computer generated imagery) Computer-generated imagery (CGI) is the application of computer graphics to create or contribute to images in art, printed media, video games, films, television programs, commercials, and simulators. An advantage is that it can look really realistic. A disadvantage is that it can cost a lot of money

Stop motion animation Stop motion (also known as stop frame) is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. An advantage is that you can do anything with stop motion. A disadvantage is that you need to create a picture in every key frame so it takes a long time

Flick book animation A flip book or flick book is a book with a series of pictures that vary gradually from one page to the next, so that when the pages are turned rapidly, the pictures appear to animate by simulating motion or some other change. An advantage is that the result can be impressive. A disadvantage is that it can take a while and it doesn’t always look really good.

Cel animation Traditional cel animation, is an animation technique where each frame is drawn by hand onto transparent sheets. The technique was the main form of animation until computer animation took over. An advantage is that the sheets can be reused and a disadvantage is that it takes a long time to do and needs a lot of people to do it (animators).

Cut out animation Cut out animation is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: cut out shapes arranged on a flat surface, and manually moved and repositioned to simulate animation. Cut outs can be colored paper, white paper with drawings on it, even photographs, and can be completely flat. An advantage is that its easy and accessible. A disadvantage is that can look tacky.

Rotoscoping Rotoscoping is an animation technique in which animators trace over footage, frame by frame. Originally, recorded live-action film images were projected onto a frosted glass panel and re-drawn by an animator. An advantage is that it looks good. A disadvantage is it can be a difficult process.

Clay Clay animation is animation that is made out of clay, an advantage is that it could be easy because your always using the same clay just moving it about, a disadvantage is that you have to be very skilful and it could take a lot of time.

Silhouette Silhouette is animation that is made by using shadows. An advantage is that it can look really good if its done properly. A disadvantage is that it can take a long time.

Flash animation A Flash animation or Flash cartoon is an animated film which is created by Adobe Flash or similar software. The term Flash animation not only refers to the file format but to a certain kind of movement and visual style. An advantage is that its easy to do. A disadvantage is that its expensive.
