Archery Kelvin Kong

History One of the oldest sports still practiced The first stone arrowheads have been found over 50,000 years old in Africa It was a military weapon, hunting weapon Archery was the favourite sport of the Egyptian pharaohs during the 18 th dynasty. Archery first appeared in the Olympic Games in 1900

Different Type of Bow

Recurve Bow It were historically used by horsemen, and modern version of the bow used in Olympic events The central parts of the limbs curve toward the archer The tips of the limbs away from the archer Use to teach archery for beginners

Compound Bow First produced in the 1960s Involve an innovative system of cable, pulleys, Gives archers time to aim a powerful bow without causing excessive muscle fatigue Better accuracy, distance and arrow velocity Not used by beginners because of their inherent complexity

Long Bow It were first recorded in use during battle in 1298 It were a dominant weapon on the battle field It is the simplest bow It is the difficulties to aim The slowest of the arrow velocity It is the hardest to master

Cross Bow Originated in China Commonly used in battle in the Greco- Roman and Medieval ages Drawn by way of a crank mechanism, then attached to the trigger and locked in place The shortest firing ranges

Different Type of Arrow

Bullet and Field Target Points Are designed to be shot into paper, foam targets, or grass-type targets. Can be matched to the weight of big game broad heads that a hunter plans to use during hunting season. Practicing with weight-matched target points minimizes bow sight adjustments before hunting.

Judo Points Are designed for field practice, and used while roving under simulated hunting conditions and selecting targets such as leaves, stumps, or sticks. Have small, protruding wire springs on the arrow point to prevent the arrow from disappearing when shot into ground cover. Weigh the same as most popular big game broad heads.

Blunt Points Work best for small game animals such as rabbits and squirrels. Are square-tipped instead of pointed and made from rubber, plastic, or steel. Kill by shock. Many blunt points are made from rubber or plastic. They flair out at the tip to form a much wider striking surface, which delivers more shock to the target. Used with flu-flu fletched shafts for squirrel hunting.

Bow fishing Points Made of steel and designed to penetrate the hard scales of carp, gar, and other rough fish. Equipped with a strong barb to allow retrieval of the fish. Usually feature screw-off or retractable barbs for easy removal from the fish.

How To Shoot An Arrow 1.Determine your dominant eye 2.Use equipment that matches your dominant eye 3.Obtain the appropriate gear 4.Assume the correct shooting stance 5.Nock the Arrow 6.Use three fingers to lightly how the arrow on the string 7.Raise and draw your bow 8.Aim 9.Release the arrow by relaxing the fingers of your string hand 10.Once the arrow has left for its target, move your draw hand back and finish the shoulder rotation 11.Shoot the full end of arrows 12.Score your arrow if you wish
