Why study music? Music stimulates creativity, imagination and intuition and encourages and develops the expressive qualities of a child. It helps the child develop musical knowledge and understanding and good co-ordination skills. Music, together with the creative arts, contributes towards the complete educational development of the child..

When you choose music you will: Study an instrument Learn theory of music Study about music from different periods in history and from different countries Participate in recitals each scholastic year Sing in the school choir Sing in the school choir Play with the school band Play with the school band Take part in curricular and cultural events Take part in curricular and cultural events

Who can choose Music? Although this course starts from the very beginning of Form 1, those students who have a basic music education can still apply to join since the teacher follows individual programmes catered for the needs of the students.

Music Lessons In Form 1 and Form 2, music students will have 2 lessons per week (45 minutes each). These are divided as follows. 1 lesson ~ Theory and Music Appreciation 1 lesson ~ Instrument Performance Performance is taught on an individual basis.

In Form 3, Form 4 and Form 5, there will be 4 lessons per week (45 minutes each) These are divided as follows: 2 lessons ~ Theory and Music Appreciation 2 lessons ~ Instrument Performance Performance is taught on an individual basis.

Assessment Summative Assessment : End of Form 1: level grade 1 End of Form 2: level grades 2 and 3 End of Form 3: level grade 4 End of Form 4: level grade 5 End of Form 5: level grade 6 50% Theory and Music Appreciation Exam 50% Practical Exam Formative Assessment : Two recitals per year
