 The fire extinguisher and fire blanket are located to the right of the classroom door in the red firebox.

 Use only DRY oven mitts to get things from the oven, microwave or stovetop.  Stand to the side of the oven door when putting food into the oven or taking it out.

 Always stack equipment neatly so it does not fall from the cabinet or counter onto the floor.

 When opening a can open it all the way around, not partially. It can give you a dangerous cut.

 Remember…..  Water and electricity do not mix.  Hands and feet should be dry when using electrical appliances.  Counters and floor should be dry when using electrical appliances.

 Do not use extension cords with appliances.  Do not overload circuits.

 Pull on the plug, not the cord when unplugging an appliance.

 Take kitchen trash out daily. Don’t let it get overloaded.  Keep trash in a covered container.  Recycle when possible.

 Do not leave cabinet doors or drawers open. Close doors and drawers immediately after getting equipment and tools out.

 Tie hair back and roll up sleeves when cooking at the stove.  Avoid wearing baggy clothing when cooking at the stove.

 Keep saucepan handles turned in to avoid them from being pulled down and burning someone.

 Always clean up spills immediately.  Brooms, mops, and dustpans are located to the right side of the washing machine

 Get clean dish towels and cloths from the white laundry basket for each lab.  Place soiled towels, cloths and sponges in the blue laundry basket at the end of the lab for cleaning.
