DO Not Be Like The Horse Ps 32:9 1 st Sunday of Messry,

(St. Cyril of Alexandria)  Hail to you, who contained Him, Who cannot be contained in your holy virginal womb. 

Option 1  I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.  Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you.  Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him. Ps 32:8-10

Option 2  The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. Pro. 18: 15

1. Beaten and empty handed  Now at vintage-time he sent a servant to the vinedressers, that they might give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the vinedressers beat him and sent him away empty-handed. Luke 20:10

2. Shamefully and empty handed  Again he sent another servant; and they beat him also, treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty- handed. Luke 20:11

3. Wounded and cast out  And again he sent a third; and they wounded him also and cast him out. Luke 20:12

4. Good Expectations of the Owner  “Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. Probably they will respect him when they see him.’ Luke 20:13

(St. Cyprian)  If we are children of God; If we have actually begun to be His temples: If we have received His Holy Spirit, we have got to live holy and spiritually.

5. The Horse thinking  But when the vinedressers saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, ‘ This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. ’ So they cast him out of the vineyard and killed him. …. Luke 20:14,15

6. The Wrong defense  He will come and destroy those vinedressers and give the vineyard to others.” And when they heard it they said, “Certainly not!”…And the chief priests and the scribes that very hour sought to lay hands on Him, but they feared the people for they knew He had spoken this parable against them. Luke 20:16,19

(St. Augustine)  Send the ray of Your wisdom to scatter our darkness, for Your image to shine in us.
