Objectives Provide the knowledge and skills to effectively and efficiently understand, investigate, and remediate IAQ problems on tribal lands Expand tribal professional’s expertise in developing, implementing, and maintaining IAQ program within their tribe

Training Plan Training development and delivery to occur over a 4 year period Courses developed and delivered in each ASHRAE climate zone Deliver 3 courses: Technical Course I; Technical Course II; and Programmatic Course Technical Courses I and II are delivered in conjunction with one another

Training Plan –cont. Partner closely with tribes to develop climate-specific training Include native American co-trainers –Provide case studies: approach to identification and remediation of the problem –Provide detail of the experience Utilize a tribal “sick house” for hands-on training portion of courses

Technical Course I “Investigating Indoor Air Quality Problems in Tribal Homes” Introduction to IAQ a strong understanding of key IAQ problems in tribal residences in their climate region a good level of competence in using a problem solving approach to investigate and diagnose the causes of these IAQ problems the solid knowledge and skill in how and when to use key equipment, tools, and tests for investigation when to seek outside assistance; and the ability to use guidelines/outreach materials to minimize IAQ problems

Technical Course II “Remediation of Indoor Air Quality Problems in Tribal Homes” Teach participants a wide range of effective, affordable, and efficient prevention and remediation strategies to address the major IAQ-related problems of moisture and mold, combustion gases, leaky buildings, inadequate ventilation, particulate control, and radon with emphasis on strategies most important to address each climate zone’s unique problems

Programmatic Course “Programmatic Course on Developing a Tribal Indoor Air Quality Program” Focuses on teaching and supporting all interested parties to work together and/or individually to plan, develop, and implement a Tribal IAQ Program Provides guidance on grant-writing techniques Provides direction when looking for sources of grant funding (i.e. federal, state, private)
