Water and its DivisionsWater and its Divisions Water is further divided into 5 types;Water is further divided into 5 types; 1.Pure and Purifying1.Pure and Purifying 2.Pure and Purifying, but disliked for purification as a small amount that a cat or similar animal has drank from it 3.Pure, but not purifying; water that has been used to remove a legal impurity or water used to make Wudu upon Wudu with the intention of Nearness to God 4.Water that is Najis (Impure) – this would be still water into which an impurity has fallen. A small quantity of water is less than 10 by 10 arms lengths. 5.Water whose purity is doubtful – i.e. a Mule or Donkey has drank from it Module 1 – Fiqh of Tahara

Water not Permitted for useWater not Permitted for use Water that is not permitted for Purification is of two types;Water that is not permitted for Purification is of two types; 1.Water that flows from branches or fruits of a tree, even if it flows without human intervention 2.Water that lost its attributed by being;2.Water that lost its attributed by being; i.Cookedi.Cooked ii.Overwhelmedii.Overwhelmed Module 1 – Fiqh of Tahara

Water that is OverwhelmedWater that is Overwhelmed Water can be overwhelmed when mixed with solids, it if losses its ‘thinness’ and ‘flowing nature’, but is not harmed if mainly its ‘adjectives’ are affected through mixing with saffron, fruit or tree leaves Water can be overwhelmed when mixed with solids, it if losses its ‘thinness’ and ‘flowing nature’, but is not harmed if mainly its ‘adjectives’ are affected through mixing with saffron, fruit or tree leaves. Water is overwhelmed when mixed with liquids, if one attribute of the other liquid appears, when the liquid has two attributes only, like milk; it has colour and taste but no smell, or two attributes from a liquid that has three attributes, like vinegar. Module 1 – Fiqh of Tahara

Water that is OverwhelmedWater that is Overwhelmed If the liquid has no attributes, like used water, or rose water that has stopped having a smell, then ‘overwhelmed’ should be decided by weight. If two pounds or used water mix with a pound of plain water, it is not permissible to use for Wudu, and if the reverse case, it is permissible. Module 1 – Fiqh of Tahara

The Remnants of WaterThe Remnants of Water If an animal drinks from little water, the remaining water is Su’r and is of 4 types; 1)Pure and Purifying from which drank a human, horse or animal whose flesh can be eaten 2)Najis and cannot be used, from which drank a dog, a pig or carnivorous animal like a leopard or wolf 3)Disliked in the presence of an alternative, from which drunk a cat or a roaming chicken, predatory birds like a falcon eagle or a mouse, but not a scorpion 4)Doubtful water from which drank a mule or donkey unless there is no alternative, so he may make Wudu then Tayammum Module 1 – Fiqh of Tahara

Ascertaining the Pure from Containers & ClothesAscertaining the Pure from Containers & Clothes In mixed containers, some have purifying water and others have Najis water; If most of them are pure, he exerts his effort in investigating and ascertaining the pure from them to use for drinking and purification If most of them are pure, he exerts his effort in investigating and ascertaining the pure from them to use for drinking and purification If most of them are Najis, then he only investigates for the purpose of drinking If most of them are Najis, then he only investigates for the purpose of drinking In Clothing – he investigates in all casesIn Clothing – he investigates in all cases Module 1 – Fiqh of Tahara

A Discussion on WellsA Discussion on Wells A well is not made impure by;A well is not made impure by; The dung of camels, sheep, horses, mules, donkeys, cow etc. unless it is a lot to an extent that: The dung of camels, sheep, horses, mules, donkeys, cow etc. unless it is a lot to an extent that:  The observer finds it is a lot (subjective)  It comes out in every bucket drawn from the well Water is not spoiled by: Water is not spoiled by:  The droppings of edible birds such as pigeons/sparrows etc.  The death of that which has no blood: Fish/Frogs/Water animals/flies/scorpions  If a human being, or an edible animal, falls alive into the water and comes out alive, and there was no impurity on his body  Likewise, the mule, donkey and a predatory bird (If they fall and come out alive) Module 1 – Fiqh of Tahara

A Discussion on WellsA Discussion on Wells If an animal falls in the water, and its saliva reaches the water, then the ruling follows the ruling of the saliva (ruling of the dog) If we find a dead animal in the well, and we do not know when it fell in the water, then we consider its water as Najis for a day and night before the time we found it. If that dead animal was also bloated, then it is considered Najis for 3 days and 3 nights. Module 1 – Fiqh of Tahara
