i. Information Year 9 Arts Homework This project is for Year 9 students who are NOT completing the Bronze Arts Award. You are going to learn a new arts skill as part of this Arts homework, the next slide contains some ideas about what you could choose to do for this project. You are required to hand in a ‘progress diary’ with picture examples to support your work, the last slide contains a template for this or you could design your own diary. Alternatively, you may want to produce a video diary instead. You have 11 Weeks to complete all of the tasks given on slides 5,6 and 7. The hand in date for your ‘project diary’ is your Arts lesson during the week beginning Monday 1 st June. You will be giving a ‘60 second’ mini presentation about your progress to your teacher during the first lesson back after the Easter holiday Term: Spring 2 & Summer 1

i. Information Year 9 Arts Homework New Arts Skills Ideas… Learn how to sing or to play a new Musical instrument and record a sound track of this Learn how to create an animation and produce your own mini film Learn how to knit and produce an item of clothing Learn how to write a short story and produce your own illustrated book Or choose a different skill which is related to either Music, Drama or Art… Learn the art of cake decoration and produce your own decorated cupcakes Learn how to paint with watercolours and produce your own painting Learn how to use Photoshop and create your own digital art You will need to practice and develop your skill each week

You must keep a weekly diary of the progress that you are making, this can be either of the following: i. Information What do I need to hand in? Paper diary (see last slide) YouTube video diary (see next Slide)

Examples of popular online diaries i. Information What do I need to present? If you choose to keep an online diary to record your weekly progress, at the end of this project you must edit it into one video and your teacher a link to where you have saved or uploaded it. - 9B: - 9A: 9A1: - 9C1: 9B1:

i. Information You must use the table of tasks below to help you to keep your weekly diary. Remember your diary should identify the progress that you have made each week. Week 1: 9 th March Evidence needed for diary entry… Decide on what your new arts skill will be. Use your diary entry to explain why you have chosen to learn this new skill and to explain where your starting point will be. What previous experience do you have of this skill? Week 2: 16 th March Evidence needed for diary entry… Describe how you are learning your new skill e.g. from watching a YouTube video tutorial or being show what to do by an expert. Describe what progress you have made this week with your new skill, what have been the highlights and the frustrations with this task? Week 3: 23 rd March Evidence needed for diary entry… Write or film a summary of what you feel the basic skills which you need to master are. How are you learning these and what progress have you made. Describe a problem which you have had to overcome, how have you achieved this? Week 4: Easter Holiday Evidence needed for diary entry… Practice your new skill. Write or film a 60 second progress update in your diary describing the progress made so far. What will you need to do next to progress further / improve your skill further? You will present this to your teacher after the Easter holiday! ‘Weekly diary tasks’

i. Information Week 5: 13 th April Evidence needed for diary entry… Present and continue to practice your new skill. Describe what you enjoyed working on the most and what you enjoyed the least. Did anything surprise you about your chosen arts skill? Write a short paragraph about your final piece of work for your chosen arts activity, are you pleased with the end result? Week 6: 20 th April Evidence needed for diary entry… Set yourself 3 targets about how you could improve your skill level further. Describe how you will achieve these, what will you need to do? How will you know if you have been successful? Week 7: 27 th April Evidence needed for diary entry… Describe what progress you have made with achieving your 3 targets from the previous week. Decide on a ‘main piece’ to work towards which demonstrates your newly developed skill level. Week 8: 4 th May Evidence needed for diary entry… Continue to practice / develop your skill to make progress towards your main piece. Describe any changes that you have had to make to your initial ideas. How have you overcome these issues? ‘Weekly diary tasks’

i. Information Week 9: 11 th May Evidence need for diary entry… Comment on how your main piece is progressing, have you had to learn any new skills to be able to achieve your intended outcome? What has your favourite part of the project been to date, why is this? Week 10: 18 th May Evidence need for diary entry… Review your main piece (evaluation), describe what final adjustments you have made to improve this. Comment on your new skill, how is your ability different now to when you started back in week 1. What has been the most surprising thing which you have learnt? Week 11: Half Term Evidence need for diary entry… Use this week to present your diary in a paper or video format. Check that you have made an entry for each week and you have backed up these with photographic evidence / sound clips / video clips etc… ‘Weekly diary tasks’ The hand in date for your ‘project diary’ is during your Arts lesson of the week beginning Monday 1 st June.
