ABC’s of Resume Writing Quick Tips: Appropriate —Make sure your address is professional Be short and sweet—Don’t get too wordy Correct mistakes—Once you’ve finished your resume, make sure you have 2-3 people proof- read it for mistakes

ABC’s Continued… Don’t abbreviate—only abbreviate state initials, which should be capitalized. St., Ave., Rd., should all be spelled out Evaluate your references—Ask your references for permission before putting them on your resume. Format—Format the font and size of the text, and make sure everything is in the same format throughout your resume.

Instructions Continued 5 minutes before the bell rings: 1.Save your resume to your documents as (first name, last name, resume, today’s date) 2.Go to Naviance (you should already have this up) 3.Click on the My Planner tab 4.Click on Tasks Assigned to Me 5.Click on MLP 9.5 Resume 6.Click on upload a document 7.Find your resume and click upload file 8.Logout and shut your computer down *Reminder you can always work on updating this resume on your own and you should continually do so as you add experience. Resumes are required to get a job (including Step Up Summer Jobs), apply to college and to apply for a scholarship.
