Afghanistan 1. 1.Developed and finalised the draft Code - waiting for approval Formation of Afghanistan Breastfeeding Promotion Partners (ABPP) Establishment of National Breastfeeding Promotion Board Host of South Asia Breastfeeding Partners forum Kabul declaration on IYCF 6. 6.Government promised to move breastfeeding up on the priority list of health programmes.

Bangladesh  Country-level revitalisation of the breastfeeding movement.  National Conference on Breastfeeding and Complementary Feeding organised, 500 participants.  The National Infant and Young Child Feeding Strategy has been finalised. Curriculum revision in light of IYCF;  Formation of training committee for establishing Breastfeeding Management Centers;

Bhutan Actions and Plans 2007 Assessment of BFHI has been carried out, with a view to revitalizing. Advocate for maternity leave for 14 weeks and worksite accommodation for breastfeeding; Survey on IYCF practices; Advocacy for approval of BMS Code by National Assembly; Reactivation of National Committee on promotion and protection of breastfeeding as National IYCF Committee.

Nepal   National capacity has been increased to impart skills training on Infant and Young Child Feeding.   The Nepal Breastfeeding Promotion Forum – the local IBFAN group - organised the South Asia Breastfeeding Partners’ Forum -2.   A draft strategy document for IYCF is ready.

Pakistan Score: 75.5/150 Grade: C Colour rating: Yellow Rank in South Asia: 4th

Sri Lanka   Intensified monitoring and evaluation of the Code.   The country has already started working on the gaps revealed by WBTi, focusing on: 1. 1.Bottle feeding, 2. 2.BFHI, 3. 3.Maternity Protection and 4. 4.Infant feeding and HIV.
