Inova Health Systems Not-for-Profit Organization Originated in 1956 due to a rapid increase of health care needs in Northern Virginia Started from Fairfax Hospital Association, then grew to a network of hospitals Name originated in late 1980’s, as Inova Health Systems. Said to show innovation and commitment in health care for northern Virginia.

Inova History In 1956, a group of Fairfax county citizens formed a hospital, Fairfax Hospital Associations. Inova Fairfax Hospital officially opened in Since northern Virginias population was growing Inova opened a mount Vernon hospital and a fair oaks hospital, which opened 1987 Inova Home Health was established in 1986 by a group of nurses, then the next year, 2 long term care facilities opened, Commonwealth Care Center in Fairfax and Cameron Glen Care Center in Reston. In 1987, the health care system was renamed Inova Health Systems

Inova History Continued Due to the HIV/ AIDS epidemic, an HIV service was opened, now named Inova Juniper Program, which was established in 1988 A behavioral health facility opened in 1991 in Fairfax, the kellar center, which offered outpatient treatment for adults, adolescents, and children. In 1994 Fair Oaks Hospital preformed their 100th heart surgery. In 1997, Alexandria Hospital joined the Inova community. In 2004 the Inova heart and vascular institute, the regions first cardiac institute dedicated to them, which opened in the Fairfax campus. Also the Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children opened. In 2005, Loudoun Hospital Center came together with Inova Health System to form Inova Loudoun Hospital. Since 1956 to present, Inova Health systems grew to a network several hospitals and facilities.

History of Claude Moore Claude Moore was established in 1987 by Dr. Claude Moor who was a successful physician who left most of his fortune in trust to provide educational opportunities and including higher education for young people.

Goal of Claude Moore The main goal of Claude Moore is to open more educational opportunities for the talented and unprivileged through literacy and advanced education. Grants Program Dr. Claude Moore established the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation in The aim for this foundation is the to provide educational opportunities, including higher education, for young people in the Commonwealth of Virginia and elsewhere. The Foundation accepts and reviews applications on an annual basis, between the time period of July 1 through September 1, with awards being made by January of the following year
