Everything in creation exists because of God We reflect God’s love and goodness Through God’s gift of faith He calls us toward Him Jesus Christ is the high point of creation God’s Kingdom- the power of God’s love active in our lives God is always with us
The Church recognizes certain rituals as sacred signs that the Holy Spirit helps people These signs are called Sacraments There are seven Sacraments; Baptism, Penance, Confirmation, Holy Orders, Eucharist, Anointing of the Sick, and Matrimony Sacrament- an effective sign given to us by Jesus through which we are strengthened by the Holy Spirit and our relationship with God is strengthened In Baptism we become Children of God In Penance we are forgiven from sin
In each Sacrament Jesus, trough the Holy Spirit, shares God’s life with us and effects change in our lives. In each Sacrament we can also find particular ways that Jesus’s life reveals God’s presence and the power of God’s love. Through the power of the Holy Spirit the Sacraments give us grace. The grace we receive through the Sacraments is called Sanctifying Grace. Sanctifying Grace enables us to love God, to love ourselves as God loves us,and to love others as we love ourselves. The seven Sacraments enable us to respond to God’s saving grace in the everyday events of life. The sacraments reflect the values and ministries of Jesus. We are called to live out these values and continue Jesus’ work of salvation, sharing with others the good news that God is with us always.
In each sacrament Jesus, trough the Holy Spirit, shares God’s life with us and effects change in our lives. Baptism- We are welcomed into the church, becoming children of God Confirmation- We are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Eucharist – We receive Jesus Christ, the bread of life. Penance – We turn to God with sorrow for sin and receive his love and forgiveness. Anointing of the sick - People who are sick and suffering are helped and comforted. Holy Orders- Baptized men are ordained to lead and serve the Church Matrimony- A baptized man and woman are strengthened for family life and service by their faithful love.
Sacraments have a threefold purpose: Sanctify us, or make us holy, which gives us the grace to live as disciples of Jesus and live as members of the church. Builds up the church as the Body of Christ, which makes the Church an effective sign of the Kingdom of God in the world To worship God, which brings us to God with thanks and praise which gives grace we need to live as God’s people.
Grouped into 3 categories: Birth and growth- Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist Healing-Penance and Anointing of the Sick Mission- Holy Orders and Matrimony

Blessing, actions, objects that help us to respond to the god. Blessing of people, food, places, food, and objects. Objects such as rosaries, medals, crucifix, blessed ashes, blessed palms, and statues or images of Jesus or Mary and the other saints. Though Sacraments do not give us sanctifying grace, they help us to respond to the grace we receive in God’s presence in our lives. Sacraments keep us focused on god and help us to grow in holiness.
As a child, Olivier Messiaen the songs was awed by the songs of birds and heard music in the sounds of nature. His fascination with the music in the world around him motivates him to compose his own music. After completing his studies, he became an organist for a cathedral in Paris. when world war II began, Messiaen was drafted into the French army. While fighting the German forces, he was captured and sent. Yet he continued to compose music, arising from a fascination with nature and a love of God.
After the war, Messiaen returned to pairs and became a professor at the Paris conservatory. Olivier Messiaen saw the extraordinary in ordinary life. He recognized the presence of god. In Your life, how can you try to do the same.
