CALL Implementation CALL – computer assisted language learning 1990: First computer at HANU (only 3 sets) 1998: first multimedia lab (30 work stations and 1 computer lab (30 ws)

CALL Implementation Application of English Discoveries (Stand alone) and commercial CD Rom programs. Limited targets: Some English classes of the English department and some tailor-made courses

CALL Implementation Teacher resistance to high tech, only some interested Dial-up internet connection Virtually no CALL

CALL Implementation New computer labs installed with WB Grant ADSL and Fibre optic leased lines Increased internet bandwidth More available resources, PPT, DP Dyned (for English) and Moodle (2006)

CALL Implementation : Complete campus lan set up and all internet connected. 1 server farm (10 servers) with over 500 work stations EDO (English Discoveries On Line) and ED2.12

CALL Implementation 2006 Moodle: localized and used in some faculties and Distance education center. More teachers use PPT and other application software. Staff and students at HANU and outside HANU.

CALL Implementation 2007 More computer labs installed student learning Moodle: Used by all faculties. New EDO adopted to include First Discoveries (beginner level) Completion localization of Virtual Class software

CALL Implementation 2007 Participate in VINAREN – super inter-university network: 45 MB bandwidth. Develop shareware with other universities EDO to cover other institutions

CALL Implementation 2007 More training for staff on blended learning benefits Continued development of course content for Virtual Class Participate in Mega English project for Vietnam, of which CALL is to be adopted
