What is CEENet? CEENet Central and Eastern European Networking Association is an international non-profit association of 24 national organizations from CEE and NIS countries, which focus on academic, research and educational computer networking.

CEENet Educational Activities CEENet organizes workshops on: Network Policy (’97,99,01,03) Network Managerial Methods (98, 00, 02, 04) Network Technology (95, 96, …02,04) Distance Education (E-course Incubator, 01)

CEENet Potential Human network and knowledge base 24+ NRENs with their staff 30+ lecturers in all aspects of networking 20+ course designers and tutors for face to face and distance teaching. 10 years of experience in logistic and management of training events in ICT 4 years of experience with distance education – from design to running courses 600+ former students, often in key positions

Past CEENet Projects CEENet participated in several international ICT projects funded by EC, NATO, OSI, UNDP etc., - Two e-courses have been created, tested and evaluated: Course Design Course (for e-designers) Online Tutoring Course (for e-tutors) Produced by experts from 8 countries (including AM, EE, LT, PL, SK, UA), translated into 7 languages, run with ca. 140 students. ANTITESYS – Master studies in embedded systems design (ca. 15 students from AM, BG, EE, GE, LT, PL, RO,TR)

Possible Future Projects (Applications sent to IST 3rd call) - EuroNGN - CA, which aims at building and co-ordinating the vision of next generation networks (CH, UK, CEENet, SI, CZ, SK, BG, RO) - EuroLink – SSA, creation of platforms, over which Europe/world-wide distributed conferences and demonstrations will be organized (ES, CH, BE, SI, CEENet) - CLOSER – see talk of Miroslaw Maj

Possible Future Projects (Applications being prepared) - NN (Grundtvig) – creation of an e-course for e-course follow-up, limited consortium extention possibility. - PTOLEMEE (Grundtvig) – creation of e-course methodology for remote re-training of ICT engineers in SMEs (e.g. in NRENs). Partners are UNI-Milano, SONEMA, CEENet, Charite(?), 3-4 partners still needed. - E-JOURNAL – see talk by A. Mendkovitch

Possible Future Projects (Applications being discussed) - NN – CA, Extension of an existing SEE/Mediterranean Telemedicine Centres Network to CEE region. Coordinated by Charite (Berlin). CEENet has been asked to look for partners, ideally academy clinics with telemedicine experience. Please send: name of the organization, contact person + .

Possible Future Projects (Applications being discussed) CEE VU (CEE Virtual University) – will be an association of CEE Technical Universities, who want to offer re-training e-courses in: - quickly changing technology fields, e.g. ICT - where they represent high world level. Provisional association created in Kiev by KPI, TUs of Sofia, Brno, Tallinn, Kaunas, Bucharest, Yerevan, Lviv, Donetsk, Charkov, MoE-UA, CEENet and UNESCO. Close cooperation with NET-UNO (34 Italian TUs).

Possible Future Projects (Applications being discussed) CEE VU asked CEENet to look for: -technical universities with e-learning experience and at least one speciality at top world level (please send name + contact person) -for countries, where association of legal bodies is allowed by law and cost/administration overhead is low.
