Report and Discussion on Regional Priorities: Building A Prospectus for the Central Florida Partnership Central Florida Congress of Regional Leaders “Turning the Page” Briefing August 2, 2013 | 9:00 am

- Regional Priorities and Scale 3.8 Million People Call Central Florida “Home” 86 Cities, 7 Counties, 500 Elected Officials $132 Billion in Gross Regional Product $155 Billion in Exports Part of “Florida’s Super Region”

- Objectives and What the Council was Commissioned to Accomplish  The Central Florida Partnership has tackled some of the toughest challenges facing the Region and continues the commitment that was made at formation: listen to leaders, make data- driven decisions, set decisive priorities, unite the Region’s leaders for action, move forward, measure.  A summer of discussions among leaders, committees, and line of business boards makes it clear that leaders are calling for a new round of decisive actions from the Central Florida Partnership and its network of civic partners. We share the sense of urgency and opportunity, and are committed to allocating responsibilities and work to the right teams to the highest possible outcomes. Position It works.IT WORKS

- Statement of Intent With the thoughtful engagement of our fiduciaries, investors, all “Lines of Business” (LOBs), and our Community Partners, we will ensure our actions are driven by sound research and data. We will rely on our regional leaders and teams throughout the Partnership to find the right answers; and ensure that we are in a focused and well-structured position to take decisive actions. We will orient leaders to the strengths and successes of the Partnership, and leverage its assets towards success. With the help of a disciplined Leadership Council of regional leaders, we intend to move forward with the following values in mind:  Speed  Clarity  Simplicity  Transparency  Early leader engagement for long-term ownership  Ever-evolving diversity of participation, perspectives, and ideas  Connections between and among all moving parts of the Partnership  Sound execution in existing projects and priorities as we move forward. Objectives and What the Council was Commissioned to Accomplish The Central Florida Partnership intends to build on success by renewing its roster of regional priorities and responding to the call for a new round of decisive actions for the coming years.

- Two Value Resources

- Breakthroughs and Transformations During the Process  Enabling the first public event and discussion featuring all “lines of business” chairs and the Chair of the Partnership  Leveraging of “Turning the Page” survey activities and workshops to expand into and support additional strategic planning and future program prioritization  Establishing more customary use of “gross regional product” (GRP) as a way to create regional understanding and cooperation.  Driving of Leadership Council’s Requests for Insights to the small group/alternative sites  Allowing engagement by the Partnership Board in a hands-on manner in their own “Turning the Page” Workshop  Gathering and motivating of community leaders around questions of root cause issues and solutions Continued next slide

-  Taking advantage of the propensity of regional leaders to leave single issues and missions “at the door” in order to conquer the Region’s toughest challenges  Elevating the role of Leadership Orlando participants by having them not only learn about Regional Priorities and assets, but have direct communications and impact on the Priorities of the future  Confirmation that the perspectives of entrepreneurs are essential in order to set Regional Priorities  Establishing priority-setting in “Turning the Page” as an orienting force for new members of The Central Florida Congress of Regional Leaders  Gathering new, motivational ways of stating shared Priorities, problems, and tasks rather than relying on a single unit or organization to define terminology Breakthroughs and Transformations During the Process

- Organizing Information  Expectations and Values  Infrastructure Priorities that lead to infrastructure strategies and projects  Learning Priorities that lead to learning strategies and projects  Resources that Help Us Connect Priorities that point to the resources (processes and tools) required to connect the community and leverage regional capacity  Messages and Principles Priorities of message and principle that cut across all activities
