Numeracy Mrs Karen Hagenaars -We use the National Numeracy Strategy for our objectives -We use Abacus evolve to aid our planning and to enhance the teaching and learning of Mathematics at ISB What do we use to plan and teach Mathematics?

What is Abacus evolve? It is the leading scheme for teaching Mathematics in the UK It has won many national awards for the teaching and learning of Mathematics It is interactive, differentiated and age appropriate for the individuals in our classes It builds on the child´s knowledge and understanding year on year It helps the teacher assess the individual needs of each child in their class

What can you do as parents to help your child? Use mathematical language with your child in everyday situations. Lots of practical learning through games, cooking and other fun activities. Help your child to consolidate their learning through completing their homework. Ensure that your child has a good understanding of the mathematical vocabulary we use in school.

Literacy Mr Paul Wallace
