What is Opportunity Inc.? Opportunity Inc. is your regional Workforce Board providing services, which help jobseekers like you to find employment with the skills you currently have or pay for training that could help you land that next job. Best of all, OppInc services are funded through the US Department of Labor Workforce Investment Act (WIA) so there is no charge to you for anything we provide. OppInc is a member of the Virginia Workforce Network. All of our services are delivered through One-Stop Workforce Centers.

What is a One-Stop? One-Stop Workforce Centers, or simply "One- Stops" are places where you can access a full range of assistance in finding employment under one roof. One-Stops offer job listings; employment workshops; computer and internet access; career counseling; training referrals and scholarship funds; and similar employment-related services. Many services are available to anyone looking for a job while others have eligibility requirements.

OppInc One-Stop Services There are three levels of job seeker services available through the One-Stop Workforce Centers: “Core” services are basic assistance with no eligibility requirement. “Intensive” services include more hands-on assistance like working with a professional career developer. “Training” services include funding and support for skills training needed to find a job. Job Seekers can move from one level to the next or receive services from more than one level, depending on their needs. Core Intensive Training

OppInc One-Stop Services - Core OppInc Jobs Board OppInc maintains relationships with many area businesses, which post their openings with us. OppInc staff work with clients to match them to jobs that best suit their skills and career goals. (Click Box to Minimize) Core Services are available to all adults regardless of their current employment status, work history or special needs to help in self-directed job search activities. Other One-Stop Partners In addition to Opportunity Inc. services, the One-Stop hosts a variety of partner organizations that can provide further assistance depending on your needs. OppInc One-Stop Services - Intensive WIA Intensive services are provided eligible individuals who are not able to obtain employment or who remain underemployed after utilizing core services. An individual must have received at least one core service such as an initial assessment that determines that individual’s need for these services. OppInc One-Stop Services - Training Training services are available to individuals who have: Met the eligibility requirement for intensive services and have been determined to be unable to obtain or retain employment through intensive services. Are in need of training services. Have the skills and qualifications to successfully complete the selected training program. Training services are provided through Individual Training Accounts. Clients receive a voucher worth up to $7,000 to purchase training from eligible training providers. OppInc One-Stop Services - Training In addition to more traditional skills training, Opportunity Inc. can also train you to start your own business through its Launch Hampton Roads Entrepreneurship Training Program.

Launch Hampton Roads Entrepreneurship (Business Start-Up) Program Launch Hampton Roads is Opportunity Inc.'s Entrepreneurship Training Program. It is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor as part of a three region Virginia consortium including workforce organizations in Northern Virginia and Richmond. General WIA Eligibility Criteria – Dislocated Worker At least 18 years old U.S. Citizen or eligible to work in the U.S. Registered for Selective Service (Males born on or after January 1, 1960) Be in need of more intensive services based on initial assessment AND:  Qualifies for Unemployment Insurance (UI) and is unlikely to return to previous occupation, OR Worked at a facility that permanently closed or had a substantial lay-off, OR Is a Displaced Homemaker, OR Was self-employed and became unemployed as a result of economic conditions in the Community (Click Box to Minimize) Next Steps - Almost Done! General WIA Eligibility Criteria – Adult Worker At least 18 years old U.S. Citizen or eligible to work in the U.S. Registered for Selective Service (Males born on or after January 1, 1960) Be in need of more intensive services based on initial assessment AND: Fall into one of the following categories: Unemployed Employed with Family Income below the Self-Sufficiency Guideline (Click Box to Minimize) Complete OppInc Application for Services. You can complete all necessary paperwork at the OppInc One-Stop Workforce Center. However, preparing the application ahead of time will speed your application processing. OppInc Application (Common Intake Form) Follow-Up Agreement Form Visit a One-Stop Workforce Center to review and submit your application. Walk in times for review are Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 11:30pm and 1:00pm to 4:00pm While at the One-Stop, schedule an appointment for eligibility certification.
