1 The Polygon angle- sum theorems Chapter 6 Section 1

Objective  Students will…  find the sum of the measurements of the interior angles of a polygon.  Find the sum of the measures of the exterior angels of a polygon

Interior Angles  The sum of the interior angle measures of a polygon depends on the number of sides the polygon has.

Polygon Angle-Sum Theorem (6-1)  The sum of the measures of the interior angles of an n-gon is  (n-2) 180.

Turn to page 353…  Look at Problem 1…  Try the “Got It” problem at the bottom.

Corollary to the Polygon angle-sum theorem  The measure of each interior angle of a regular n-gon is  (n-2)180  n

On page 354…  Look at Problem 2

Polygon Exterior angle-sum theorem (6-2)  The sum of the measures of the exterior angels of a polygon, one at each vertex, is 360.  The sum of the exterior angles of any polygon is 360.

On page 356…  Try problems #1-6 on your own.

On page 356…  Complete problems #7-36 in your small work groups.
