Committee Responsibilities Section 2. Duties a. Prepare nominations for all Region Officers and for the position of Institute Director. The Nominating Committee may be assigned other related duties as described in Region Policy – The nominating committee shall prepare a list of nominees, showing at least one qualified name for each position due to become vacant. Last Fall - Institute Director NOW - Region Vice President, Region Treasurer – Region officers are elected by the Board of Directors. – Institute is looking for listing of FY15 officers by April 1.

Nominee Qualifications – Bylaws requirements: Must be a professional member of the Region in good standing. Region Officers must have served on the Region Board or as a Region Committee Chair within the last five years. The newly elected Officers’ terms will begin July 1, 2014 and end June 30, 2016.

The Vice President’s Job The Northeast Region Vice President is one member of a nineteen person board that shapes the direction of our Region, and by extension the progress of our industry. The position provides an experience of leadership at a region level, with all the inherent benefits for personal growth and networking, and the fiduciary responsibilities of overseeing a non-profit corporation. Fulfilling those responsibilities requires visitations to chapters around the region, to board meetings, region conferences and the annual convention. The time commitment between the meetings themselves and preparatory work is approximately 200 hours a year. While it is a volunteer position with no financial compensation, there is a budget allocation to reimburse travel expenses.

The Treasurer’s Job The Northeast Region Vice President is one member of a nineteen person board that shapes the direction of our Region, and by extension the progress of our industry. The primary responsibility is overseeing the finances of a non- profit corporation with an annual budget of approximately $35,000 per year. The Region has approximately 100 to 150 transactions per year. Most occur at the time of the board meetings and the conference. It is a volunteer position with no financial compensation, there is a budget allocation to reimburse expenses.

Timeline for Committee Activities JANUARY - OVERDUE – Committee orientation for spring task THIRD conference call Feb 13th Committee orientation and member contact assignments By Feb 25th - Committee discussion with each qualified potential candidate FOURTH conference call Feb 27th List of potential candidates and resumes distributed to committee members for discussion. Take action to nominate candidates if possible. Vote during call. Must have a quorum. By March 1 st – Report nominees to board for election.

Assign Action Items Provide the committee with a CSI resume of potential candidates to allow discussion at next meeting. Discuss the position with the eligible candidates from within your chapter. Find out if there is an interest in serving.
