Statewide Provider Database (SPD) What is the SPD? Online database with comprehensive information on social service agencies and programs throughout the state of Illinois

Statewide Provider Database (SPD) Who Uses the SPD? Staff throughout the DCFS system to identify and locate community based services for children and families. Service providers throughout the state to locate community based services for their clients.

SPD Goals Individual level: to facilitate access to and utilization of services by clients Agency level: to assess gaps in resources and develop new resources in areas of local need System level: to reduce inefficiencies and encourage collaboration of provision of services to the client population 5

Background Information Began as a pilot in Cook County as part of a project funded by the MacArthur Foundation in 2002 Expanded statewide, contracted by DCFS in 2004 Launched for use by caseworkers in March of 2008 6

SPD Contents Currently contains information on: 1,700 agencies across the state 4,100 programs Over 23,000 services Includes programs with and without DCFS contracts Includes data on which state departments contract for services 7

SPD Login Procedure 1. Illinois Outcomes Website There are two ways to log into SPD: 1. Illinois Outcomes Website https://illinoisoutcomes.dcfs.illinois.gov/ You will then need to click on “Provider Database” and this will take you to the login screen. 2. D-NET Click on ‘Resources’ tab, followed by Statewide Provider Database (SPD) to reach the login screen Your username is your DCFS Illinois Outcomes ID For password resets, please call the DCFS Help Desk at 800-610-2089.

Structure of SPD Structure is Hierarchical Agency Locations Programs Services Program Types Mental Health Substance Abuse Domestic Violence Parenting Early Childhood Non-clinical Health Clinics (in production) 9

Methods for Searching SPD CANS-Recommended Services Report used only by DCFS workers with a DCFS client ID number Manual Report to select service types and features in a specified location Agency Report to see all the programs and/or locations of a specific agency Keyword Search to find information related to a specific topic or word (such as “Church” or “camp”)

CANS Recommended Services Report The system will automatically generate a list of providers who offer needed services based on the child’s most recent CANS assessment and the child’s current address. This feature is for DCFS case workers only.

Manual Service Provider Report The Manual Service Provider Report is the most common search method Zipcode is the only required field Program Types: Mental Health Substance Abuse Parenting Early Childhood Domestic Violence Non-Clinical

Manual Search: Generate Report Click “Generate Report” when you are ready to see your Service Provider Match Report

If no options are displayed in the initial report, this may mean that you made too many specifications in your search. You can “back out” by clicking “back” and selecting only the zipcode, setting all other features to “all” to see what resources are available in the specified area. If you uncover a particular “shortage” (for instance, you notice that there are psychiatrists available in Rockford but when you specify “psychiatric evaluation” and “Medicaid” none show up) feel free to contact an SPD team member to let them know. It is in this way that you can help us use the tool to document gaps in service availability in your community. To use this report as a guide, click on “download a printable PDF” in the upper right corner, and you can print out the first few pages and call providers to follow up on availability. Often the report is very long, so make sure to specify the number of pages you’d like to print. All of the items in blue on the page can be clicked on for more information. If you click on the agency name (second column) you’ll access the agency report. If you click on the program name, you’ll obtain all of the details of the program (about fifteen pages) and if you click on the address you’ll access a map and directions. Let’s do that now. 16 16

This page displays the directions This page displays the directions. At the top left you can specify whether you would prefer walking, driving, or public transportation (where available) directions. 17 17

Program Information Discharge Features addressing barriers to access Staffing patterns & credentials Use of evidence-based practices Intake Eligibility Geographic Financial Clinical Demographic Contact Information Program Hours Administrative Hours Enrollment Capacity Services Offered There is a limited window of time in which to intervene, usually when a family is in crisis they are more open to following up on referrals and receiving help. In order to take advantage of this window, we try to provide as much detail as possible about what is needed to access services. 19
