Committees’ Decisions Summary Steering Committee – 3/19/13 Meeting A small work group of Steering Committee members was formed to coordinate with OMB RMOs on budget coordination regarding geospatial data. Executive Committee Meeting – 2/14/13 Meeting Continue to move forward with the NSDI Strategic Plan workplan. Continue to develop the portfolio management implementation strategy approach. GAO Actions Update 1. Steering Committee to: Develop a plan with timeframe to facilitate the implementation of OMB’s portfolio management guidance (goals, performance measures, annual reporting to OMB) - Target Date: FY 2014, Q1 Responsible Officials: Ivan DeLoatch, FGDC OS; and Adrian Gardner, NASA STATUS: discussions on approach still occurring, SteerCom discussed on 3/19; approach presented to NGAC 4/3/13; a theme lead meeting on roles/responsibilities, the direction memo, and to get input on what theme leads need, was held 3/4/ Steering Committee to: Develop and implement guidance and timeframe for identifying planned geospatial investments using the Geospatial Platform - Target Date: FY 2013, Q4 Responsible Officials: Jerry Johnston, DOI STATUS: Technical capability in development with policy to follow. “Marketplace” community development can begin after the May scheduled release of new Platform 2.0 functionality. 22

GAO Actions Update 3. Steering Committee to: Create and update a strategic plan with timeframe and implement the plan within the established time frame 1. A vision statement for the NSDI 2. Outcome-oriented goals and objectives addressing all aspects of the NSDI 3. A description of how the goals and objectives are to be achieved, a description of the resources needed to achieve the goals and objectives and how the FGDC will work with other agencies to achieve them 4. Performance measures for achieving the stated goals 5. External factors that could affect the achievement of the goals and objectives. Target Date: FY 2014, Q1 Responsible Officials: Ivan DeLoatch, FGDC OS; and Daniel Cotter, DHS Status: Initial workplan developed with initial plan draft in April/May timeframe and input from the NGAC. Approach discussed at the 3/19 Steering Committee meeting. Approach presented at 4/3 NGAC WebEx meeting and is one of the NGAC 2013 guidance items for their input. Metadata Work Group Charter Vote On March 18, an electronic vote request was sent to CG members regarding endorsement of the Metadata Work Group’s new charter. Responses were due on April affirmative votes were received; there were no negative votes, and there were 22 non-responses (counted as affirmatives). Two comments with proposed changes were received from voting agencies; the comments have been provided to the Metadata Work Group, and they will be following up in an upcoming work group meeting on how best to address those comments. Federal Metadata Coordinators ISO Implementation Workshop Workshop planned for April 16-17, 2013 at USGS in Reston, VA - now offered as a Webinar in two half day sessions (12-4 ET). The purpose of the workshop is to help Federal agency metadata coordinators (including data managers, theme leads, among others) get up-to-date on ISO standards, and provide them with a framework for implementing ISO standards in their organizations. Day 1 will focus on establishing a foundation for understanding ISO standards. Day 2 will focus on actions needed for agencies to transition to ISO (several case studies will be presented). 34 participants representing 12 agencies registered.
