WHAT ARE THE ARMY CADETS??? The Army Cadets are the UK’s oldest Youth Organisation, founded in We inspire young people from every walk of life to unlock their talents and shape their own futures while offering fun, friendship, action and adventure.. We are funded by the MOD but we are not part of the UK Armed Forces or designed to make you join them (very few actually join). Over 41,000 young people and 8,000 Officers and Adult Instructors*. For boys and girls aged between yrs. *Statistics as of April 2014

OUR BATTALION Our battalion has 29 detachments, that’s is split into five companies covering an area spanning from Thurso to Ft William and Stornoway to Elgin (an area equivalent to the size of Belgium). We currently have about 450 cadets in the battalion and they are looked after by about 90 dedicated Adult Instructors and Officers. All of our adults are fully trained and qualified and are also subject to the Health and Safety Act. We have a Duty of Care towards our Cadets as well as our fellow Adults. 1st Battalion The Highlanders
