Meaning of psychotherapy “A form of treatment for problems of an emotional nature in which a trained person deliberately establishes a professional relationship with a Patient with the object of removing, modifying a retarding existing symptoms of mediating disturbed patterns of behavior and of promoting positive personality growth and development”.

Facts of Psychotherapy Participants Therapeutic Relationship Techniques of Psychotherapy

Participants : the client – mental disturbance ( ↑↑ - ↓↓ ) anxiety & depression, interpersonal problems, marital problems, school difficulties, physical complaints, job related difficulties, substance abuse, psychotic conditions, mental retardation ect.

The therapist: a trained person help to solve this type of disturbance. Empathy, unconditioned positive regard, understanding, etc.

Therapeutic Relationship : a relationship between therapist and client. SStarting of psychotherapy → therapeutic contract { blue print } → Goals of treatment, techniques, chance of risk and responsibilities of clients. → Balanced attachment and detachment. → Confidential ethical agreement. → Client welfare. → Role investment, empathic resonance, mutual affirmation.
