Code of Conduct Player will always: Be respectful to coaches, teammates, opponents, referees, school officials, and parents Listen and receive instruction/criticism willingly Support the team, whether on the field or on the sideline at games and practices Show strong and mature sportsmanship and walk away from all fights Be at practice unless: – Have an excused absence from school classes due to illness – Family function other than vacation (i.e. funeral, wedding, religious) – School-related function that causes me to be away from school Be a model student at school and follow all teacher and school rules *Discipline will involve loss of game time*
Code of Conduct (Cont’d) Discipline Actions: 1) If player misses a game due to disciplinary actions (GHSA/team/school), player could be removed from the team 2) Missing Practice due to reason other than listed in the Code of Conduct will result in penalties i.e. loss of game time. If you are healthy enough to be at school, you are healthy enough to be at practice, even if not directly involved on the field (i.e. injury) 3) Fighting – GHSA policy is that a player ejected for fighting must sit the following 2 games. Those two games will count against a player’s eligibility to remain with the team. 4) ISS/OSS – school policy is if a player receives in or out of school suspension, player can not participate in that day’s after school activities, either game or practice. This will count against a player’s eligibility for the team 5) All other infractions of the code of conduct beyond attendance of practices/games will be handled on a case by case basis under the discretion of the head coach. Severe infractions (criminal charges, drugs, alcohol) can result in immediate expulsion from the team.
