Strengths Aspects register Completing an initial risk assessment is a great start to your EMS however you do need to ensure it remains relevant and up to date - reflecting changing circumstances in both your business and legislation. You need also to make sure that you take into account normal and abnormal conditions, emergencies and accidents and don't forget you can have positive impacts as well as negative. As a more mature EMS you can potentially afford add more aspects into the significant ones you address and consider those areas that you may not have direct control over but can influence such as your business partners. Commitment to compliance Having documented a commitment to compliance, processes need to be in place and remain relevant to changing legislation. Companies need to ensure that they have methods by which to ensure they support their commitment. Even of you are not applying a formal environmental management system, having a policy provides the focus for the organisation to priorities effort.
