Assessment Activities  Have students draw a picture of the moon every night at a regular time interval. Use class discussions as an ongoing assessment of students’ understanding of the moon phases.  Use Phases of the Moon – Oreo Lesson as an assessment. For assessment purposes see attached sheet for students to record results of Oreo lesson.Oreo Lesson Instructional Notes: Students should know:  the appearance (shape) of the moon changes in a cycle that takes about a month. Note: Students are not responsible for naming all waxing and waning phases of the moon.
