Betty and Jean Schmalz Elementary Title I Schoolwide Campus

Title I  Is a federal program  2 types of Title I Campuses  Targeted  Schoolwide  Strives to ensure students learn and perform at levels to meet or exceed state challenging academic performance  Provides Supplemental funds which are used for additional staff and instructional programs, resources to improve student education, professional development for staff and parent involvement.

Parent Involvement Parents are encouraged to:  Provide input and offer feedback on the Title I program  Participate in the development of School-Parent Compacts and Parent Involvement Policies  Attend at least 1 parent conference on campus  Volunteer  Attend Parent Trainings and Family Nights  Participate on Campus or District Committees

Volunteer Opportunities  Junior Achievement  Game Day  Keys Mentors  Young Men on a Mission Mentors  Young Ladies Who Shine mentors  Read stories to Pre-K  Career Week  Workroom You may sign up tonight! We need you!

Parent Notification of Parent Activities Parents receive invitations and reminders for all parent activities. These invitations and advertisements are provided in a variety of ways such as the schools’ websites, face book, Twitter, newsletters, flyers, automated calling systems, and marquis, reminder s from classroom teachers, etc.

Parent Notification/Academics  Title I campuses shall provide assistance to parents in understanding and receiving information regarding  The curriculum in use at the school  The forms of academic assessment used to measure student progress  The proficiency levels that students are expected to meet in order to be academically successful  The guidance for parents to work with their child to improve student achievement  The requirement under No Child Left Behind

Title I Parent Involvement Plan Each school has The Title I Parent Involvement Plan which describe the school’s plan for involving you and other parents in your child’s education. The plan is located on our school website. In the Spring, a monkey survey will be ed to parents to receive parent feedback.  Parent Compact (Conferences and school website)  Parent Involvement Policy (School Website)

Title I Parent Information Brochure The Title I Parent Information brochure, which is sent home to each family, includes detailed information about Parent’s Rights and the Title I program from the campus and district level. It will be sent home in Tuesday folders.

Parent Survey and Reservation of Funds  A parent survey will be provided in hallway outside the gym.  On the back, please share ideas on how to spend Parent involvement Title I funds.
