World HealthCare Students’ Symposium 9 – 14 November 2009 “Bringing Health Care Students Together“ Alexandria, Egypt
What is World Health Students’ Symposium? The WorldHSS (originally WorldMPS) was founded in 2004 with the vision of inspiring future healthcare professionals worldwide, from pharmacy, medicine, nursing, and other healthcare professions, to learn and collaborate together for the benefit of improved patient-centered care worldwide. The symposium is held every two years, and over 400 healthcare students from around the globe come together to learn, develop skills, increase awareness, and to become advocates towards an intercollaborative and multidisciplinary approach to healthcare around the globe.
2009 Theme The theme of the Symposium this year is ‘Urgent Care’
Why Urgent Care? Multidisciplinary team work is a key practice in managing patient care. In order to work effectively as part of the team, you need more than just an understanding of your own role you also need to consider the roles of the other professionals who are providing care. If a multidisciplinary team fails to function, a worst case scenario: death of the patient, can ultimately result. A critical area in which this increased role awareness is needed include situations where Urgent Care is performed.
The Event World HSS is a 4-day event. The theme of 'Urgent Care' will be incorporated into the four different program day topics, which are: -Education. -Ethics. -Global and Primary Health Care. -Inter professional collaboration. Guest speakers will include international experts in healthcare education and practice and international representative of the healthcare professions.
