Articulated Programs Attending college first and then university  College diplomas have lots of pathways to university  Can be a less expensive route  Highly competitive universities and programs offer less admission and credits  See individual college handbooks for details  See sample

College Degrees  Community Colleges offer degrees that fulfill the same government requirements as University degrees (can be used to apply to Teacher’s College, Grad. school etc.)  Most have well paid co-op opportunities that usually turn into full time jobs  Usually have chances for overseas opportunities  See sample

Scholarships  Looking for students with strong profiles (community activities, overseas experiences, high marks, school involvement)  Looking for passion towards a long-term cause (AIDS, poverty, technology etc.)  Handout with some tips (Dedication, Ask for Help, Explore Websites)

Joint Program  In fours years the student achieves both a two year college diploma and a four year university degree  Placement opportunities  Overseas opportunities  See sample

Apprenticeship  16 year olds with 16 credits can start the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP)  Choose co-op on option sheet to register with OYAP and learn valuable skills that will contribute to successful completion of Certificate of Qualification  There are 157 apprenticeships recognized by the Ministry of Training  Red Seal program allows for greater mobility of skilled workers across Canada (currently there are 46 Red Seal trades)
