HOW DO I REMOVE A COMPUTER VIRUS - If your computer is infected with a virus, you'll want to remove it as quickly as possible. A fast way to check for viruses is to use an online scanner, such as the Microsoft Safety Scanner. The scanner is a free online service that helps you identify and remove viruses, clean up your hard disk, and generally improve your computer's performance.

STEPS TO REMOVE THE VIRUS

MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS 1- To scan the computer select one of the scan options, and then click scan now - Quick scan : Scans the folders most likely to contain security threats. - Full scan : Scan the entire system. - Custom: Scan drives and folders that you choose.

2- Security Essentials scans the computer for security threats.

When the scan is complete, a screen displays the scan results. If the scan finds threats, a list of those threats displays. If the scan does not find threats, a No threats were detected on the computer during this scan message displays.

UPDATE TAB

The Update tab displays the status of the virus and spyware definitions.

HISTORY TAB

The History tab displays all the items that Security Essentials detects as potentially harmful and the action taken on each item.
