Review Audacity Tool Bar Buttons -Skip to Start, Play, Record, Pause, Stop, Skip to end. Selection Tool – To choose the range of audio you want to edit or listen to. Zoom Tool – For zooming in and out. Envelope Tool – To change the volume over time; and used to fade music or voice in or out. Time Shift Tool – To move audio tracks left or right – often used when working with multiple tracks. Draw Tool – For modifying sampler. Multi Tool – For accessing all tools at one time. Push “Stop” Now you have your file in which you see the digital audio “wave” lines (your voice). Copyright Texas Education Agency (TEA)

Save Audio File Go to File Menu and click on “Save Project As” in “My Podcast” Folder. Save file as “Sample Podcast” – (this creates the file, but not the MP3 yet) Copyright Texas Education Agency (TEA)

Open “Sample Podcast” Open the “Sample Podcast” to edit recording delete unwanted words and sentences, eliminate unwanted sounds, adjust sounds, etc. UNT in partnership with TEA, Copyright ©. All rights reserved. Copyright Texas Education Agency (TEA)

Edit Audio Recording Edit by using the following tools: Cursor - “highlight and select” portion to be edited. Zoom Tool – to expand audio waves to see exactly where the sound is that needs to be edited. Cut, Copy, Paste – the digital sound. Undo and redo – to undo or redo anything you have changed and need to change back. Copyright Texas Education Agency (TEA)

Edit Audio Recording More edit tools: Delete Tool – to delete the portions of sound you want to take out. Effects Menu – Select “amplify” – to fade in and fade out the voice or music SAVE - Always “save” after changing anything you want to keep. UNT in partnership with TEA, Copyright ©. Edit ID3 tags Go to Project Menu and select “Edit ID3 tags.” The setting tags go into Windows Media Player or iTunes to identify the author(s) and band(s). If you don’t set now, Audacity will allow you to set them later. – Complete “Title, Author, Album, Track, Year, Genre (select “speech”), and Comments.” – Click “OK” and “Save Project” again. – ID3 tags are now set. Export as MP3 Go to File Menu - select “Export as MP3” from drop down box. Save as “Sample MP3”. (Takes a couple of minutes for short recordings; and up to 15 minutes if your recording is minutes.)
