 Born March 13, 1860, In Leipsic, Ohio  Parents died when he was 3 and was raised by his neighbor  He was teacher in Ohio and had three children from his first wife.  He Studied Law and passed his bar exam in 1880  His first wife died and remarried and had 3 more children  He moved to Indian Territory in 1901 and was lawyer for the Creek Tribe.  Helped with try to help establish the State of Sequoyah.  Help organize the constitutional convention for a Oklahoma as a single state.  Won the Democratic nomination and was elected governor  Served on term ending in 1911  He died in 1933 of a stroke.
