Molybdenum Molybdenum is a micronutrient that can be used in farming, especially for legumes, to help make plants absorb nitrogen and phosphorus better It helps the plant convert nitrates into amino acids which are useful to it.

Benefits to Nepal and consumer targets Molybdenum would be a great product for the Nepalese because it helps plants grow and produce more, which can have an effect on the profit the crop can create for the farmer or to have more food to feed the family. This product could potentially have the legume yields grow over the average 0.7 t/ha yield that the Nepalese are currently harvesting without it.

Benefits to Canada In British Columbia, mines that contain molybdenum could put more Canadian jobs on the market to harvest and process this element for the Nepalese. This product is environmentally sustainable and can benefit the Canadian economy because it is a by-product from copper mining. By using a readily- available by-product, this can increase profit not only from copper mining, but from a new product as well.

Molybdenum Project There is a project to be started in British Columbia at an abandoned mine in the near future. This will produce many tons of molybdenum per day, averaging $6.4 billion in exports for Canada. This will produce may jobs for Canadians and will produce 5% of the world’s supply of molybdenum.
