A good website design should be simple and straightforward. It should be simple and straightforward because if the website shows something complicated and not creative or maybe too much words, it will leads the visitor to stop surfing because it is too boring. Besides that, if you want to separate or close a section off from the rest of your page, you do not need to totally enclose it. You might just need a line or two then the others let the visitor figure it out their own way. The most important thing is to be simple and straightforward, do not confuse the visitor (designmore.com).

Article 3 : Find out what colors Directions: 1) colors 2) eyes focusing

Review: -Importance of colors when designing. -Colors can affect an individual’s emotional. -It affects individual’s attention or eye fatigue.

When creating a website, having the right color scheme on your web page is crucial in attaining a professional, high quality site that is well- received by viewers(Tripp,2014). If your website is not appealing to its viewers, they will miss the content of the page or even leave the site all together. The importance of color design stems from the significance of color to the human mind. Color creates ideas, expresses messages, spark interest, and generate certain emotions. Some colors hold a universal significance(Tripp,2014). They can make us happy, sad, angry, comfortable, nervous, and even trusting. While it seems simple enough to choose a graphic and then design a site around that graphic, you may unintentionally be presenting a derogatory impression. The colors may contradict the content in unintended ways(Wilder). Color affects how we feel, our perceptions, and our interactions. A visitor has already made a conscious choice to visit your site, now you have to keep his or her interest. You have between 8 to 10 seconds to visually appeal to the surfer. Through color you can make a surfer feel welcome, comfortable, relaxed, and trusting. If you take existing graphics on a site and change the color you change the way the site is perceived, thus changing a person’s reaction(Wilder).

Colors tend to affect human’s mind. Bright colors tend to set a happy and positive mood, whereas dark colors tend to project the opposite. Within the psychology of colors, warm colors show excitement, optimism, and creativity; cool colors symbolize peace, calmness, and harmony(Tripp,2014). Choosing colors for a website is not about just choosing colors that you like- the colors should strengthen the website and branding of the business(Tripp,2014). Colors that work well individually may not be as pleasing together as they are individually. By considering color combination as both a science, seeing how colors work together literally, and as an art, by seeing what colors symbolize and how they are evaluated internally and emotionally, the correct color combination for your website design can be achieved(Tripp).

In informational design, distinguish functional color from decorative color. Decorative color enhances the layout by making it more aesthetically appealing, creating a mood, or establishing a style. Functional color conveys information explicitly(Wilder). Make sure the choice of colors for a site fits the intended content, and the users’ expectations. Never use more colors than are necessary. Remain consistent throughout the site with your color choices, and leave the rainbows for rainy days and for chasing pots of gold.

Article 4: Navigation Directions: 1) Less is more 2) Clear & consistent

Review: The importance of a good navigation for any website. Navigation - key component of a website, relating directly to its success. The gateway into the different sections of content. Navigation - ensuring visitors that they know “where they are” and “where they can go from here” at all times (Designmore.com).
