Booming With Confidence Autumn Years Singles & Starters Promising Families

Looking to the Future in 2020 What we want to be known as... A center for the diverse mix in the community…spreading the positive light of God and Jesus…connected to community and each other…growing…multi-lingual…multi- racial…reconciling…place for boomers, families, youth, and young adults…socially minded…inspiring music, worship and small groups…meeting people where they are and creating connections…serving others.

Looking to the Future in 2020 Words of caution... 1.You can’t be all things to all people! 2.Careful – are we just going to offer what people want and not what they need? 3.We need to make sure we are still supporting our “core”

Looking to the Future in 2020 Where to focus... Autumn/ Boomers Promising Families Singles & Starters

Looking to the Future in 2020 Recommendation 1.Support the core! (better transport, etc.) 2.Start with Promising Families in Assess and expand to Singles & Starters later based on meeting milestones

Setting Action Plan Goals Table Exercise 1.Worship Priorities 2.Hospitality Priorities 3.Outreach and Nurturing 4.Education, Youth, and Families 5.Property and Technology

Worship Action Plan Goals: A more intergenerational service/music More technology (before/during/after) Other worship experiences – Youth Worship on Sunday – Services for families (maybe not Sun. AM) – More basics of Christianity – Outdoor service (in Park?) People Needs: Youth Minister/Leader Tech/lights support Drivers (volunteers) Property/Technology: Transport Options (Van) More supporting tech and power outlets More family-friendly – Video screen in alcove – Changing area Stop Doing: Clinging to “must haves” (can’t stay more than hour, can’t shorten music, can’t shorten sermon...) Stop using paper bulletins

Hospitality Action Plan Goals: Teach how to be more hospitable Family greeters – kids give tours to kids Coffee and food choices Lunch after church with carry out options Rally Day - food before worship Outdoor services (in park?) People Needs: Recruit/train greeters Child care options for events and meetings Property/Technology: Wifi all over building Outdoor spaces (patio) Electronic calendar and communication Stop Doing: Talking only to people we know

Outreach/Nurture Action Plan Goals: Use of tech for outreach (FB, Web, etc.) Emphasize mission/service opportunities Prioritize small group formation/support – Core: social outreach, 55+ concerns, health/wellness – Families: parenting, finances, faith formation, 2x4s Inter-generational invitations (mentoring) Sponsoring agent for community events People Needs: Recruit/nurture small group leaders Child care options for events and meetings Property/Technology: More small group spaces Tech for group meetings Acoustics in FH Website and signage Stop Doing: “I like the way things are” “We need to do it all ourselves”

Education, Youth & Families Action Plan Goals: Youth program for High School age Adult ed (basics of Christianity – Alpha) More intergenerational music opportunities Expand pool of SS teachers (not only parents) Programs that extend over period of time (e.g. mosaic class) People Needs: Youth Minister/Leader Recruit SS teachers and volunteers Child care options for events and meetings Property/Technology: Van for transportation More family-friendly spaces ( e.g. changing areas ) Upgrade classrooms Acoustics in FH Stop Doing: Being reluctant to change Being clique-y (open invitations)

How Can We Pay for This? We can get there through a combination of short-term investments, reallocations, and paying down the debt. Identify key priorities and investment needs Look for opportunities to reallocate Launch campaign to pay down debt and fund priorities until mortgage renegotiated

Next Steps Action Plan Goals Become Foundation of Plan 1.Review action plan recommendations with Admin Council 2.Ministry Teams charged with translating to plans for Fall 3.Teams present plans to Admin Council prior to budgeting 4.Final plans and goals shared with congregation

Thank You!
