Ancient Egypt! By: Riley Tousignant, Blaize Kandler, and Thomas Calhoon

Pyramids Pyramids are built of limestone blocks that weigh in a range of 1.5 tons to 9.0 tons! Building these monuments takes a tremendous amount of labor. Imagine transporting these blocks by hand! Pyramid supplies were transported by the Nile River. One of the first pyramids was built in 2600 B.C!

One of the most famous pyramids was pyramid Giza, it’s also know as the Great Pyramid. This pyramid was so big that some people think that it took up to 20 years to build! The pyramid of Mankaure was 215 feet high. It is one of the three major pyramids of Giza. Archeologist think that this pyramid was built for a king and his family. The original sarcophagus was removed from the pyramid and shipped on a boat in The boat sank and the sarcophagus was never seen again.

Another famous pyramid is pyramid Khufu. Khufu was broken into in a unique way. These burglars first started off by with lighting the rock on fire then they put cold vinegar on the stone. In this process the stone was weakened and they pounded on the rock and then broke into the passage ways. This Pyramid was 146 meters tall!

Many pyramids have entrances but some were nearly invisible. The Egyptians that built these pyramid tried to trick the robbers in so many ways such as lowering the pharaoh into the pyramid so that there were no passages leading to it, making many fake doors and passage ways, booby traps, and some of the robbers would help build the pyramid so they would know all of the passage ways and trap doors.

The rooms and passages inside of pyramids! The Kings Chamber The Antechamber (the room with all valuables he owned) The Queens Chamber Air Shafts Underground Chambers(usually does not have anything in it purposely to trick robbers) Service corridor

The After Life Requirements You had to be mummified You would need clothes, food, and water You needed a copy of the book of the dead Your heart needed to be left in your body You need the Ka(your body double) the Ba(personality) and the ank(the Egyptians symbol of life) The things that are valuable to you such as your jewelry Models because they took up less room in the afterlife.

The after life starts in the process of taking out your organs all accept for the heart. These organs are put in the Canopic jars. They believed that these jars protected their body. Then the process of mummification. After you are mummified they believed that you traveled to the after life by boat.

Canopic Jars There are four different jars that have heads on top of them. They include the human head the baboon head the falcon and the jackal. These heads represented the “Four Sons Of Horus” They put these heads on because they believed that they protected them in the afterlife. The organs that were put in the jar turned into oil which tomb robbers stole and sold for money.

The Ba - Your personality The Ka - the double of someone The akh - The actual life the soul

First when you go to the afterlife you are judged by 14 judges. Then your heart is weighed against a feather of the Ma’at the goddess of truth and justice. If your heart is heavier then the feather it gets devoured by the demond Omit. If it weighs less then the feather then you continue on into the afterlife

THE END!
