Review for Ch. 7 Quiz Covering: Labeling cell parts Eukaryotes/Prokaryotes Cell Theory 5 Scientists Plant vs. Animal cell parts
Know the 3 parts of the Cell Theory All cells come from cells Cells are the unit of life All living organisms are made of cells
Know the 5 scientists involved in the Cell Theory & their research. Van Leeuwenhoek Hooke Schleiden Schwann Virchow
List some differences between Prokaryotes & Eukaryotes. Are Plants & Animals They DO have a nucleus Prokaryotes- They are bacteria They do NOT have a nucleus
Organelle means “little organ.” How are organelles similar to organs?
The cell requires instructions in order to function properly The cell requires instructions in order to function properly. Where do these instructions come from? The nucleus because the nucleus contains the DNA, which are the instructions for everything.
Name some types of organisms that have cell walls and what are these cell walls made of? Plants and bacteria have cell walls. They are made up of Cellulose Pectin
How does a cell membrane differ from a cell wall? Cell wall is found on the very outside of a plant or bacterial cell. It is used mainly in supporting the cell. Cell membrane is found on every cell. If there is a cell wall, the cell membrane is under the cell wall. It is the “gate keeper” as it is selectively permeable, choosing who does and does not get to enter the cell. CELL WALL
