1. Hatchet I chose a hatchet as the most important thing in the survival kit, because it is a tool that I can use to chop something, use for throwing at an animal like a skunk, and it can help make fire, too. The hatchet can be used for chopping, because I can chop even the aluminum from the plane. Brian did that with the hatchet. Another example of why it is useful to have a hatchet is that you can chop up animals when you want to eat them, like when Brian ate the foolbirds. The hatchet is also useful for throwing at an animal, because by doing that, I can protect myself from really dangerous animals in the woods. If an animal attacks me, I can throw the hatchet at the animal. I might miss the animal when I throw it, but it can also help me keep animals away from my shelter.

Matches 2. I chose Matches for the second most important thing in the survival kit. Matches can make fire easily, which can help to keep me warm and help us see in the dark. Since the animals are so afraid of the fire, the matches can help us to keep away the dangerous animals. It can also help to signal the plane that I am lost, so they would see the smoke in that area. A pilot could then see me and he could rescue me. The matches are useful for making us warm, since nights in the forest can be so cold. The matches are also useful for helping us to see if it is dark. You can see a lot better if you use the fire to make light. The matches are very important, as you can see.

Sleeping Bag 3. I chose the sleeping bag for the third most important thing inside the survival kit. This is because the sleeping bag can make you really warm. It can also be your personal shelter for your own and you would be able to sleep, because even though it is cold, you will be very warm. It is really important to keep our bodies warm. If we do not keep our body warm, we can get sick. Remember, it is important to keep our bodies warm.

4. Cookware I chose cookware for the fourth most important thing in the survival kit. This is because we can use it for cooking, since we have the matches. WE can cook with the cookware, but we can also use it to carry water and to store food to protect in form the wild animals. This cookware can help us survive longer in the woods. Having cooked food to eat will give us energy to do whatever we need to do, such as hunt, make weapons, or gather firewood.

Emergency Transmitter I chose the Emergency Transmitter for the fifth most important thing in the survival kit. This is because the emergency transmitter can help me survive. It helps me survive, because if I crash, I can use the emergency transmitter for help, as it will notify an airport person to rescue me. It is much safer to use the emergency transmitter, rather than shouting from the window of the plane, which no one would hear in the woods. I would use the emergency transmitter only if it is a really serious emergency such as crash, the pilot passed away, I am out of air, or other serious situations.

First Aid Kit I chose the First Aid Kit for the sixth most important thing in the survival kit. This is because if I got sick or I got injured by some really dangerous animals in the woods, it can help heal my injured part. It is also very helpful to have a first aid kit in the survival kit when we are sick, because there are some medicines inside it, and they could heal us. There would also be Band-Aids, bandages, and splints inside that could help with wounds or broken bones. Also, some things in the first aid kit might be able to be used for weapons or tools.

Food I chose food for the seventh most important thing in the survival kit. This is because we can eat something when we need energy. We need food inside our body, and if you don’t eat, you can get sick. Food is important, as it gives us energy, nutrients, and many vitamins. It is important to stay healthy, so I can continue to gather wood and hunt animals for other fresh food.
