Project partner 13 Klaipeda City Municipality Administration Kuldiga MY SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (LLIV-322)

Klaipeda City Municipality Administration Klaipėda is the third largest city in Lithuania. Klaipėda city municipality council is the governing body of the Klaipėda city municipality. It is responsible for municipal laws. The council is composed of 31 member elected for four-year terms.

Klaipeda city has 8,147 disabled persons of working age (from 18 years prior to retirement); 879 children with disabilities; 32,155 persons of retirement age, of whom 2,941 are disabled. Situation with public toilets in Klaipeda City is very poor, especialy there is high demand of public toilets at the beaches. The beaches of Klaipėda are one of the biggest attractions in the City. Increase in tourist traffic is monitored and also the number of visitors with special needs is growing.

Main activity in project Adaptions (investments) in infructure - beach environment. Installation of public toilets which are adapted for disabled people will make the beaches and also the City of Klaipeda more attractive for tourists, citizens and also for disabled people, for them is now extremely difficult to obtain these services.

Summary This project will help to solve one of the most pressing urban problem - lack of public toilets, which are adapted for disabled people, at the beaches of the City, that’s why this project is a capitally important for Klaipeda City and the entire coastal region.
